The smallest player in the 2015 Australian squad, Brent ‘Jellyfist’ Lehmann, may be small in stature, but has fists the size of some European countries. And don’t let the name Jellyfist fool you – it is not a reflection on the hardness of his fists, but rather a reference to the Irukandji Jellyfish, which despite being small in size, can be lethal.

A talented junior clay target shooter, Brent quickly grew tired of the ease of shooting targets with a gun and began punching rocks at them for a greater challenge. Little did he know that this skill would later lead him to a chance to represent his country in a World Cup.

The founder and captain of the Peter Norman Trophy winning Bay City Fisters, Brent got his start in fistball at Fistivus VI as a member of the Westside Wombats. However, after just one tournament in the yellow and black, Brent quickly realised that the fistball Gods had bigger plans in mind for him. Much like Noah with the arc, Brent had what can only be described as a supernatural premonition when he saw the letters ‘P’, ‘N’ and ‘T’ lined up alongside each other in his bowl of alphabetti spaghetti, and he knew exactly what he had to do. He went back to Geelong with a plan, and returned to the next Fistivus with a team of his own; leading them to 3 consecutive finals in their first 3 competitions, taking home the hallowed PNT in Fistivus IX.

Brent has continued to lead the Bay City Fisters with distinction over the past 18 months, earning him a call up to the Australian squad and a chance to don the green and gold for the first time.
With an ability to play in all 3 defensive positions, Brent is a valuable asset to the Australian squad and we are looking forward to seeing him ply his trade on the international stage.
